Kolmårdsmarmor -
Swedish Green Marble

Marble is a popular building material. Swedish marble is used in the construction of everything from royal castles and beautiful villas to large cathedrals and museums. Areas of use for interiors and exteriors are limited only by imagination. Today you will find Swedish marble in everything from benches in the kitchen to bathrooms, sinks, shelves, panersl, stoves, balustrades, stairs and much more. In Sweden, we call the unique stone Kolmårdsmarmor, but internationally it is better known under the name Swedish green.

The spontaneous perception among the common man is that marble is white. But in fact, it comes in a number of colors and shades, of which white is one. Kolmårdsmarmor is a unique Swedish stone with varying green color and beautiful grain that has arisen thanks to serpentines in the stone.

Swedish Green is a fine-grained stone that is seen as one of the world’s hardest marble varieties. Despite this, it is very easy to process. The character of the marble’s green color and grain depends on the mining site and how it is sawn out.

Each marble quarry has its unique patterns and color combinations.

The Marmorbruket can offer two different varieties of green Swedish marble:

Kolmårdsmarmor OX and Kolmårdsmarmor OXL, both are Swedish stone from the quarry in Oxåker in Kolmården. But by sawing the marble from different angles, you can easily produce a unique pattern in the stone.

Kolmården OXL:
Density 2890Kg / m3 (DIN 52 102)
Compressive strength 208.0 MPa (DIN 52 105)
Bending strength 14.8 MPa (DIN 52 112A)
Wear 25.4 cm3 / 50 cm2 (DIN 52 108)
Water absorption 0.15% by weight (DIN 52 103A)
